Dearest 5/5,

Welcome to your new class this year. I look forward to getting to know all of you better this year. Hopefully, we will work closely together and work towards better grades and character in an environment filled with joy and laughter.

It took me a while to name this blog. I finally came up with the name 'Roses and Thorns' for various reasons. I thought the title is very apt as our class is made up of 31 girls and 8 boys. So naturally, it is a class filled with many beautiful roses and a few thorns. Haha.

However, thorns are not bad. In fact, they serve a purpose. The thorns protect the delicate flowers against enemies. Conversely, not all roses smell sweet. In fact, the sweetest smelling roses have the most thorns! So the boys in our class must remember to protect us girls. =)

Also, I thought the title serves to remind us that life is not a bed of roses. We will face many hardships ahead of us. There will be many things that we will have to work hard for. Be it examination results or working towads a long term goal.

So let us work hard through happy and 'thorny' times.
